Different AMR robots in one environment, in a common space
Automation of logistics processes
In the beginning, the customer, a manufacturer of electric linear actuators primarily for medical equipment, had a permanent production solely on human power. Operators had to manually transport everything from packaging materials and components to finished products and cardboard waste. These transfers between production lines and warehouses were time-consuming, put a significant strain on employees and slowed down the overall production process. In an environment where every detail and process flow is important, the need for reliable automation to relieve the burden on people while increasing efficiency became increasingly apparent. The solution was the installation of AMR robots to provide various transport tasks (removal of finished products, delivery of empty pallets, removal of waste from workplaces).
Production growth = adding AMR robot to the fleet
The expansion of production, the installation of new machines and the transition to double-shift operation have caused a rapid increase in the demands on internal logistics. Original dva AMR robots, which previously covered key tasks such as transporting packaging, waste and finished products, no longer capacity was not sufficient. The logistics team was facing a shortage of human resources and at the same time it became clear that manual reinforcement of the team was not sustainable. The customer was therefore looking for a solution that would provide an increase in transport capacity, streamline operations and at the same time eliminate the dependency on staff availability – namely without significant interference with existing infrastructure. The solution was to expand the current AMR fleet with an additional AMR robot.
If another AMR robot, then a new and better one
In response to the growing logistical needs of the customer, the following was designed extension of the existing solution with a third AMR robot – a new model AMR Pallet Mover IF 1502. This robot represents a technological leap forward: it has a stroke of up to 205 mm, a lifting capacity of 1500 kg and a higher speed than the original two low-lift models (with a stroke of 70 mm and a lifting capacity of 800 kg).
The implementation of this more powerful robot enabled optimise internal transports a increase logistics capacity without increasing the number of employees. All three robots – although they have different designs and control methods (two with differential drive, one with a rotary wheel) – have been integrated into a common dispatching system. We have adapted this to allow the different robot models to work together safely and efficiently in a single operation, including precise route alignment, dynamic motion control and real-time, seamless transport.
Measurable results and maximum satisfaction
- Complementing the AMR robot transport performance increased by more than 65%
- Automated logistics now serves more machines without the need to increase the number of staff
- Efficiency of internal processes increased significantly, without additional personnel costs
- The implementation was carried out without delays and according to the agreed timetable
- Customer appreciated smooth running, professionalism and approach during the whole project
What are the unique features of the AMR system used?
Used technology allows combine different types of AMR robots – whether with differential control or swivel wheel – in one system. This means that the customer is not tied to one type of AMR equipment. The system can be expanded incrementally, as needed, and robots can perform a variety of tasks – from waste transfer to shipping finished products.
This project is proof that automation doesn’t have to be a leap into the unknown. S about the right solutions, you can grow step by step – intelligently, efficiently and without unnecessary compromise.
